Year 8 Climber Milly D Crowned U13 Champion at Hanger Games Grand Final

We are thrilled to celebrate the outstanding achievements of Year 8 pupil Milly D, who secured 1st place in the U13 category at the Hanger Games Grand Final in Sheffield on Friday 15 November.

This fantastic result marks the culmination of an exceptional climbing season and reflects Milly’s determination, skill, and competitive spirit.

Milly’s journey to the Grand Final has been nothing short of impressive. She began her season in September at the Youth Climbing Series 2025 at The Mothership in Bristol, placing 3rd in a tough field that included many England squad climbers. Her strong performances continued through October, where she achieved 3rd and 5th place in rounds two and three of the series.

These results set up a nail-biting finish — Milly needed to win the final qualifying round to secure enough points for a place in the national finals. In the afternoon session, under immense pressure, she delivered a brilliant performance, clinching 1st place on her final climb of the day and securing 3rd overall in the region.

Alongside the Youth Climbing Series, Milly also competed in The Hanger Games at The Climbing Hangar in Reading earlier in October, where she achieved another 1st place finish. Her success there earned her a spot at Saturday’s prestigious Grand Final — and once again, Milly rose to the occasion, taking the top spot and claiming the U13 title.

This remarkable run of results is a testament to Milly’s dedication, resilience, and passion for the sport. She has demonstrated not only exceptional athletic ability, but also the mental strength required to perform under pressure at the highest level.

Congratulations, Milly — what an extraordinary achievement! We can’t wait to see what you conquer next.
