The Junior School was full of excitement and creativity last week as our much-loved Guy Fawkes Competition returned.

St Gabriel’s was alive with energy on Thursday 6 November as we welcomed pupils from Overton CE Primary School, Stockcross Primary School, Wickham and Welford Primary School, and Burghclere Primary School to join our Year 5s for this year’s Language Olympics.

Our creative Year 1 and 2 pupils from Gardening Club have been busy putting their imagination to work, creating two fantastic scarecrows for the Newbury & District Agricultural Society (NADAS) Scarecrow Competition 2025.

On Tuesday 7 October, our Year 3 pupils enjoyed an unforgettable trip to Butser Ancient Farm, a unique site where archaeologists bring history to life by recreating and testing ancient technologies.

On Tuesday 7 October, our Year 5 pupils spent an inspiring and action-packed day at Ewhurst Park, taking part in their special Autumn Day programme.

On Thursday 2 October, pupils in Years 3 to 6 stepped back in time to the 5th century BC for a special Ancient Greek Day.
The stage was awash with colour, music, and magic as Year 6 took to the spotlight for their much-anticipated annual production—this year, a sparkling rendition of Disney’s The Little Mermaid.
After last week’s weather-induced cancellation, the sun returned just in time for the rescheduled Junior Sports Day on Friday 20 June—and what a day it turned out to be!

Year 6 have returned full of stories and smiles after an unforgettable week at Mill on the Brue, an outdoor adventure centre nestled in the Somerset countryside.

Last week, our youngest learners in Nursery and Reception were treated to a magical morning of imaginative fun as we welcomed the Pop Up Play Village to St Gabriel’s.
