Early Years Foundation Stage

The Nursery Manager guides and plans the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum for our youngest children in the Baby Room through to our eldest in the Pre-School Room.

Children in their final year of the Pre-School Room, who are able to understand and enjoy more structured routines, may have specialist teachers for Music, Sport, French and Drama.  Outdoor Education allows all the children to explore the wider school grounds.

The seven areas of learning within the EYFS are:

Prime Areas

  • Personal, Social & Emotional Development
  • Physical Development
  • Communication & Language

Specific Areas

  • Mathematics
  • Literacy
  • Understanding the World
  • Expressive Arts & Design

Oral Health

Oral health is now included in the Statutory Framework for the Early years Foundation Stage. This has been included because good oral health habits need to be formed from the earliest age. Tooth decay is largely preventable, but it’s still a serious problem amongst young children.
