Welcome to the Junior School

“The development of each child’s strengths and talents is at the heart of everything we do”

Our co-educational Junior School offers boys and girls between the ages of 4 and 11 years a happy, challenging and exciting learning environment. The pace of change in our world is relentless, and our aim is to provide your child with the skills and confidence needed to embrace change positively and enjoy the opportunities that life’s experiences bring, even from this young age.

Our pupils love a challenge both in and outside the classroom. They become excellent communicators, confident to question what they learn and understand that there is not always a wrong or right answer. Whether they are working together in the classroom, competing in the National Young Mathematicians Award or representing the school in a sporting fixture, they do the very best for themselves and support their fellow pupils.

We offer a broad and exciting curriculum. As children progress through the Junior School they move from being taught mainly by one teacher for all subjects, to being taught by specialists, in many subjects.  Staff understand each individual pupil's strengths and give any support necessary to help them reach their potential.

Our children learn as much outside their classroom as they do in it. With a wide range of visits, including residential trips and activities outside the curriculum, they develop team-building and problem-solving skills and broaden their friendship groups and their horizons.

Children feel a sense of pride in their school, and they relish opportunities to earn House Points through effort, improvement, excellence and attitude. We follow the six pillars of character: responsibility, trustworthiness, citizenship, fairness, caring and respect. Pupils learn to use these to help them make good choices and decisions.

An elected School Council meets weekly to represent pupil voice, and they organise many events including fundraising for local and national charities. We have strong links with the local community that help children connect with the real world.

By the time our pupils leave the Junior School, they have developed learning skills and the mindset needed to seize the opportunities and overcome the challenges that lie ahead.  Your child will move on to Senior School as a confident, resilient, articulate and resourceful young person.
