On Wednesday 12 November, our Year 10 and 11 Design & Technology pupils enjoyed an inspiring day exploring London’s world-class museums, gaining insights into design, engineering and technological innovation.
The visit began at the Design Museum, where students explored the Designer Maker User exhibition. They discovered a wide range of iconic objects and learned how products have evolved over time to meet user needs, respond to technological advances, and benefit from improvements in manufacturing techniques.
Next, the group visited the Science Museum to explore the Engineers and Technicians exhibition. Here, students got hands-on experience with a variety of engineering roles, from civil and mechanical to biomedical, space operations, and CAD engineering, gaining a practical understanding of the skills and creativity involved in modern engineering.
The day concluded with the Power Up exhibition, where students were transported back in time to experience video games from the past five decades. This interactive exhibition allowed them to explore how products have developed, with a focus on advances in technology, design, and user experience.
The trip offered a unique opportunity for our students to see real-world applications of design and technology, inspiring creativity and innovation as they continue their studies.
