Drama and Music Scholars Bring Shakespeare to Life in Magical Outdoor Performance

St Gabriel’s Drama and Music Scholars treated families to a truly enchanting evening on Tuesday 12 May with an outdoor performance of A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
The abridged production, staged in the beautiful grounds of the school, delighted parents and showcased the creativity and talent of our young performers.
Set beneath blue skies and surrounded by towering trees and lush greenery, the performance made full use of the natural landscape. Families gathered on picnic blankets, creating a relaxed, celebratory atmosphere that perfectly complemented Shakespeare’s whimsical comedy.
To enhance the woodland setting, the central tree of the performance space was decorated with glowing festoon lights and hidden butterflies, transforming the area into a magical forest inspired by the play. This thoughtful staging captured the spirit of mischief and enchantment at the heart of A Midsummer Night’s Dream and added a touch of theatrical wonder to the evening.
The Drama Scholars delivered energetic, confident interpretations of the much‑loved characters, while the Music Scholars helped set the tone from the very beginning, adding depth and atmosphere to the performance. Together, they demonstrated impressive professionalism and artistic flair.
The event was a joyful celebration of the performing arts at St Gabriel’s and a testament to the dedication, enthusiasm and talent of our Scholars. It was an evening enjoyed by all who attended and a memorable highlight of the school year.
