St Gabriel’s proudly hosted the official launch of our 2026 Greenpower cars on Tuesday 19 May, celebrating the hard work, creativity and engineering talent of pupils from Years 7 to 11.
The event marked a major milestone in the teams’ journey as they prepare to compete in this year’s Greenpower racing season.
Over recent months, pupils have been working collaboratively to design, build and refine their electric race cars, developing skills in engineering, problem‑solving, teamwork and innovation. Their completed vehicles were proudly displayed in the School Library, where families, staff and sponsors were invited to view the cars up close and speak with the pupils about their design choices and build process.
The evening continued in the Theatre, where teams delivered confident and insightful presentations outlining their engineering decisions, testing progress and ambitions for the season ahead. A reception for parents and sponsors followed, offering a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the pupils’ achievements and the community support behind the project.
Since the launch, the teams have been busy practising outside the front of school, putting their cars through early test runs and fine‑tuning performance in preparation for the Greenpower Goodwood event later this year. Their enthusiasm and commitment have been clear to see, with pupils embracing every opportunity to improve their vehicles and driving technique.
The Greenpower programme continues to be a highlight of STEM at St Gabriel’s, inspiring pupils to explore engineering in a hands‑on, exciting and highly collaborative way. We look forward to seeing the teams take to the track at Goodwood and wish them every success for the season ahead.
