Festive Fun and Muddy Miles: Senior Christmas Fun Run 2025

The Senior School embraced festive fitness once again on Thursday 11 December, as students took to the grounds for our much-loved Senior Christmas Fun Run.

Across the morning, pupils from Years 7 to 13 laced up their trainers (and in many cases, donned their most creative Christmas costumes!) before heading out onto the cross-country route. The trail took runners across the fields, around the lake and through the woods, finishing on the lawns behind the main school building — with plenty of mud, laughter and friendly competitiveness along the way.

Years 7 and 8 kicked things off with great enthusiasm, followed by Years 9 and 10, and finally Years 11 and Sixth Form, whose festive fancy dress once again stole the show. From antlers and tinsel to inflatable Santas, penguins and crocodiles, the costumes were as entertaining as the run itself. And of course, Mrs Brazendale continued her annual tradition of quirky Christmas attire… the now-legendary elf outfit made a triumphant return! But the star of the show was undoubtedly Mr Rowell's Santa piggyback costume!

Whether students sprinted the whole course, jogged with friends, or meandered their way around soaking up the atmosphere, the spirit of the morning was unmistakably joyful. The muddy patches caused their usual mischief, but only added to the fun — with plenty of good-natured slipping, sliding and cheering from the sidelines. Even the Nursery children got involved as the Toddler room were enjoying their walk around the grounds and stopped to clap the seniors across the finish line.

After crossing the finish line, everyone headed into the Sports Hall for a well-earned festive treat of hot chocolate, cookies and Christmas music, rounding off a brilliant morning of energy, camaraderie and seasonal silliness.

The Senior Christmas Fun Run once again brought our community together in the very best way — muddy, merry and full of Christmas cheer.
