St Gabriel’s Pupils Set Sights on the Adventure of a Lifetime: Malaysia World Challenge 2027

A group of adventurous St Gabriel’s students are already gearing up for the experience of a lifetime, as preparations begin for the World Challenge Expedition to Malaysia in Summer 2027.

This 13-night expedition will see pupils travel across Malaysia, taking part in a life-changing programme that blends adventure, cultural discovery, and community engagement. Students will have the opportunity to trek through tropical jungles, take on paddlesports and snorkelling challenges, and contribute to marine conservation and community-led projects that support the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

The World Challenge programme has been running for over 30 years, with more than 150,000 students from 44 countries taking part in expeditions that inspire leadership, resilience and global citizenship. Each experience is designed to push students out of their comfort zones, empowering them to grow in confidence, teamwork and independence — qualities that last long after the journey ends.

Principal Ricki Smith commented:

“This expedition will be an extraordinary opportunity for our pupils to discover more about themselves and the world around them. World Challenge trips are truly transformative — they inspire compassion, confidence and a sense of global responsibility.”

The Malaysia expedition is already generating huge excitement among the group, who have begun fundraising in earnest to make their dream trip a reality. From gardening and car washing to window cleaning and bake sales, these pupils are putting their teamwork and initiative to the test long before they step on the plane.

With adventure, culture and conservation all on the itinerary, the Malaysia World Challenge 2027 promises to be a journey the students will never forget — a true celebration of the spirit of curiosity, courage and community that defines St Gabriel’s.
