Nursery Admissions

A typical Nursery admissions journey will follow these steps:

  • Initial enquiry
  • Attendance at an Open Event
  • Individual Visit
  • Registration
  • Offer of a place
  • Acceptance
  • Settling in sessions

Registration

The Nursery welcomes children from the age of six months.  Admission is non-selective.  The first step in applying for a place in the Nursery is to register your child by completing our Nursery registration form and paying a registration fee of £75.00.  The registration fee covers administration costs and is non-refundable.

If you would also like to secure a place in the Reception class of the Junior School, an additional £250.00 non-refundable registration fee is payable.  This second registration fee will guarantee your child's place in Reception and will be credited back to you against your child’s first term’s fees in the Reception class.

The registration form and registration fee should be returned to the Admissions Office and, on receipt, your child will be placed on our waiting list.

Please note, we have extensive waiting lists for all rooms in the Nursery; registration does not commit you to the school, nor does it guarantee a place.

Offer of a Place & Acceptance

Places in the Nursery are allocated approximately three months prior to a child's entry date, in accordance with our Admissions Policy and, following this, a formal offer of a place will be made.  If, however, there is not a place available for the days/sessions you require, we will contact you to discuss the earliest possible entry date for your child.

A Nursery acceptance form and our Terms & Conditions are sent out with our offer of a place.  The acceptance form should be signed by both parents and returned, along with the £200.00 refundable deposit, to the Admissions Office.

Once you have accepted your child’s place, your child will be invited to attend a number of settling in sessions in the Nursery prior to joining the school.

Settling in Sessions

We understand that the transition between home and Nursery can be a difficult time for a child as well as for their parents; we will do everything we can to make this adjustment as smooth and easy as possible.

The week before your child is due to start at the Nursery, they will be invited to some settling in sessions.  We generally offer two to three sessions, but this is flexible depending on the individual needs of each child.

Session 1 (2 - 2 1/2 hours):  For the first half hour the parent stays with the Room Leader to complete paperwork, leaving their child for the remainder of the session.

Session 2 (2 - 2 1/2 hours):  The parent leaves their child to be looked after by the Nursery staff.

The settling in sessions will help your child to gradually become used to their key worker and the staff within their room.  Our Room Leaders will support you through the process, offering advice and answering any questions you may have.
