Year 5 Embrace the Wild on Bushcraft Residential

Year 5 returned from a truly unforgettable two-night adventure last week, with The Bushcraft Company, and what a wild and wonderful experience it was!
Camping in woodland bell tents, our pupils embraced the great outdoors with enthusiasm, resilience and an outstanding sense of adventure. From the moment they arrived, the focus was on learning new skills, building confidence, and working as a team — all while immersed in nature.
The trip included an exciting variety of survival-based activities. Pupils learned essential campfire safety, tried their hand at cooking their own burgers and wood-fired pizzas, and developed practical bushcraft skills including camo training, knife safety, and wilderness first aid. A particular highlight was responding to a dramatic simulated ‘helicopter crash’ in the woods — putting their first aid knowledge into action with calm and care.
Throughout the three days, the children also worked in groups to build shelters, took part in team challenges, and enjoyed evenings gathered around the campfire for games, storytelling, and toasted s’mores — a perfect end to each action-packed day.
We were incredibly proud of the teamwork, bravery, and friendship shown by every pupil. They took on each challenge with positivity, supported one another, and embraced the full spirit of adventure.
More photos from the trip are available in our online gallery and on our social media channels.
Well done, Year 5 — true bushcraft champions!
