Year 11 Celebrate Final Day with Fun, Friendship and Farewell Festivities

On Wednesday 7 May, Year 11 marked a memorable milestone, as they celebrated their last official day of school before heading off on study leave ahead of their GCSE examinations.

The day began with a surprise breakfast celebration, where students were presented with their personalised leavers' hoodies and enjoyed a round of fun form awards. Adding to the festivities, each form — including their tutors — dressed up in themed costumes, bringing extra colour and creativity to the occasion.

The celebrations continued with a classic school tradition as pupils signed each other’s school shirts, creating lasting keepsakes and sharing fond messages to remember the day.

Mid-morning, the group headed off on a trip to LaserQuest and lunch at Shaw Ridge in Swindon, enjoying one last adventure together before returning to school for a final walk around the site, plenty of photos, and well-earned ice creams in the sunshine.

The day concluded with a final assembly in the theatre — a reflective and emotional moment where pupils came together as a year group. Teachers and form tutors took the opportunity to share words of encouragement, wish students every success in their upcoming exams, and say a heartfelt goodbye to those moving on. For those returning to St Gabriel’s Sixth Form in September, it marked the beginning of an exciting new chapter ahead.

We are incredibly proud of all that Year 11 have achieved so far, and we wish them the very best for the future, be it here at St Gabriel's or on to new pastures. Good luck Year 11 — we’ll be cheering you on every step of the way!
