Harvest Festival Brings School Community Together in Celebration and Giving

On the morning of Monday 6 October, the whole school gathered for our annual Harvest Festival, joined by an audience of parents in a joyful celebration of music, reflection, and giving.

The service was beautifully enriched by performances from our talented school orchestra, alongside songs from the Junior School. Reception, Year 1 and Year 2, led by Mrs Bloxsom, delighted everyone with their singing, while Years 3 to 6, under the direction of Ms Woodhouse, gave moving performances full of energy and spirit.

We were honoured to welcome the Reverend Joy Mawdesley, Associate Rector of St Nicholas Church in Newbury, who gave an inspiring address on the importance of harvest. Her words encouraged us all to listen to nature, appreciate the abundance around us, and care for the natural world for future generations.

Three of our Year 13 pupils – Elsy (Head Girl), Ellie (Deputy Head Prefect) and Elin (Senior Prefect) – also contributed to the service, giving thoughtful and beautifully delivered readings.

The generosity of our school community was evident in the impressive array of household items, food, and drinks donated for the West Berkshire Food Bank. These contributions will be distributed to support local families in need.

It was a truly uplifting morning that not only celebrated the season of harvest but also embodied the values of gratitude, community, and care.
