Oxford Schools Debating Competition
The St Gabriel's Sixth Form Debating Team had an exciting evening on Monday, 29 January when they joined 80 teams of students from across the region to debate in the Oxford Union Schools' Debating Competition, hosted by Magdalen College School, Oxford. Our three teams really enjoyed the opportunity to debate with students from a wide range of schools in two rounds of challenging debate motions; they rose to the challenge of competitive debating in Parliamentary style and were thrilled when one of the St Gabriel's teams, Charlotte Culley and Rowan Saltmarsh, was chosen to progress to the Oxford Schools' Finals' Day at the Oxford Union in March along with eight other teams including Eton, Aylesbury, and Magdalen College School. Charlotte and Rowan are preparing already by avidly debating topical motions at the St Gabriel's Debating Society. Congratulations on an excellent achievement!
