St Gabriel’s Houses Shine in Spectacular Annual Performance Competition

On Thursday 11 December, the Senior School gathered for one of the most eagerly awaited events of the year — the annual House Performance Competition.
Aidan, Alban, Bede and Chad took to the stage in the Sports Hall for an afternoon bursting with creativity, energy and true St Gabriel’s spirit.
What makes this event truly special is that it is entirely pupil-led. With no staff involvement in the creation or direction of the performances, each production was written, rehearsed and staged by the pupils themselves. After weeks of committed preparation, every house — led by their Year 13 teams — presented an original piece featuring live music, singing, acting and imaginative storytelling. Crucially, every student from Year 7 to Sixth Form played a part, making the event a powerful celebration of collaboration and community.
This year’s challenge required each house to incorporate a specific inspirational quote into their script, leading to wonderfully creative interpretations. From superheroes restoring party spirit to high-energy hip-hop vs disco showdowns, each performance brought something unique to the stage. The atmosphere was electric, with thunderous applause and cheers echoing around the Sports Hall as pupils supported their houses with pride.
After a very close competition, it was Chad who claimed victory for an impressive third year running. Their dynamic performance and spirited rendition of I Will Survive won over the judges and earned them the coveted House Performance trophy — topped off with a jubilant encore.
The event once again showcased St Gabriel’s at its finest: teamwork, talent, leadership and joy woven into an unforgettable afternoon.
Congratulations to all four houses for their outstanding performances — and a special well done to Chad on their well-deserved win!
