Year 4’s Adventure at Cotswold Wildlife Park

On Thursday 16 October, Year 4 enjoyed a truly unforgettable day at Cotswold Wildlife Park, packed with excitement, hands-on learning, and plenty of unforgettable animal encounters.

From the moment the coach doors opened, the children’s excitement was palpable — and the park certainly did not disappoint! One of the biggest highlights was the lemur enclosure, where the curious creatures bounded from branch to branch, coming so close that they even licked a few feet! The penguins were another firm favourite, delighting everyone with their playful dives and waddles, while the rhinos—especially the adorable baby—captured every heart. Pupils were awestruck by the towering giraffes and thrilled to spot the lions basking in the warm autumn sun.

Beyond the animal encounters, the pupils also took part in an interactive lesson on animal classification led by one of the park’s expert zookeepers. They asked thoughtful questions and gained a deeper understanding of how animals are grouped and what makes each species unique.

A ride on the park’s train offered a scenic tour of the grounds, and the bird area was another standout — with colourful species from around the globe. Many were especially excited to see real-life snowy owls, reminiscent of Harry Potter’s beloved Hedwig!

It was a day full of wonder, laughter, and discovery. Year 4 returned tired but beaming, with memories that will last a lifetime. A huge thank you to Mrs Moth, who organised the trip, and to Mrs Hayes and Mrs Jones for helping make the day such a success.
