Year 8 Pupil Milly D Selected for England Climbing Foundation Squad

We are delighted to congratulate Year 8 pupil Milly D, who has earned a coveted place on the England Climbing Foundation Squad following an impressive performance at the national trials held at 270 Climbing Park in Gloucester on 6–7 December.

The trials, a key selection event for talented young climbers in the U13 and U15 age categories, provided athletes from across England and Wales with the opportunity to demonstrate their ability on challenging routes, including climbs on the Boulder Comp Wall and the Prow. Milly rose to the occasion, showcasing both her technical skill and her determination—qualities that set her apart in a highly competitive field.

This achievement follows her appearance at the Youth Climbing Series Final in Manchester last weekend, where she placed 18th in Lead and 24th in Bouldering. Competing as a 12-year-old in the U15 category against the top 30 climbers from across England, Scotland, Ireland and Wales, Milly demonstrated remarkable resilience and maturity.

Just weeks earlier, she celebrated a standout victory, securing 1st place in the U13 category at the Hanger Games Grand Final in Sheffield on Friday 15 November.

As a member of the England Squad, Milly will now receive official squad kit, enjoy free access to climbing gyms across England, and take part in a series of specialist training camps over the next year—including one international camp—designed to support her development at the highest level of the sport.

We are immensely proud of Milly and her well-earned national team selection. Her dedication, hard work, and passion for climbing shine through in every performance, and we look forward to following her continued success.

Well done, Milly!
