School Council Visits Newbury Town Council

On Monday 6 October, our School Council representatives enjoyed an exciting and informative visit to Newbury Town Council, where they learned first-hand about the workings of local democracy.

The pupils were given a guided tour of the Council Chambers and the Mayor’s Chambers, gaining a fascinating insight into how local decisions are made and how the council operates day to day.

During their visit, the pupils had the opportunity to ask thoughtful and well-considered questions on topics such as the town’s green agenda, council budgets, and how meetings are kept running smoothly. Their curiosity and engagement reflected their growing understanding of civic responsibility and leadership — key qualities we encourage within our School Council.

A huge thank you to Newbury Town Council for their warm welcome and for providing such a valuable and memorable learning experience for our pupils.
