St Gabriel’s School in Newbury is delighted to announce the expansion of its hugely successful Nursery, with building work beginning over the October half term.

On Friday 10 October, Year 2 had a very special visitor — Speedi the tortoise — as part of their Science topic on Animals, with a focus on Reptiles this week.

On Monday 6 October, our School Council representatives enjoyed an exciting and informative visit to Newbury Town Council, where they learned first-hand about the workings of local democracy.

Two talented St Gabriel’s pupils have been recognised for their exceptional creativity at this year’s City Arts Newbury “September Ceramics” showcase, a much-loved annual celebration of pottery and ceramic art in the local community.

St Gabriel’s celebrated its annual Senior Speeches & Prize Giving last night — a highlight of the school calendar and a wonderful occasion to recognise pupil achievement, reflect on the past year’s successes, and welcome new faces to the community.
Our Year 7 pupils enjoyed an unforgettable weekend at Avon Tyrrell Outdoor Centre in the New Forest from Friday 17 to Saturday 18 October.

On Thursday 16 October, Year 4 enjoyed a truly unforgettable day at Cotswold Wildlife Park, packed with excitement, hands-on learning, and plenty of unforgettable animal encounters.

On Wednesday 8 October, our Year 8 pupils took their Geography learning out of the classroom and into the field with a trip to Hengistbury Head, one of the South Coast’s most distinctive coastal landscapes.

Year 5 had an out-of-this-world start to the week with an educational visit to Winchester Science Centre, as part of their Space topic.

On Thursday 9 October Year 8 pupils at St Gabriel’s marked World Harry Potter Book Day with a spellbinding twist during their Performing Arts lesson.

Our creative Year 1 and 2 pupils from Gardening Club have been busy putting their imagination to work, creating two fantastic scarecrows for the Newbury & District Agricultural Society (NADAS) Scarecrow Competition 2025.

On Thursday 9 October, our Year 9 Textiles students took part in an exciting Colour Draping Fashion Challenge, putting their creativity, collaboration, and design skills to the test.
