Year 9 Complete Bronze D of E in Glorious Sunshine

Year 9 pupils showed impressive determination and teamwork as they successfully completed their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh’s Award expedition over the weekend of 13 June.
Their two‑day journey took them through some of West Berkshire’s most beautiful countryside, with blue skies and sunshine making the challenge all the more memorable.
Setting off from Kintbury, the groups navigated their way to Linkenholt village, carrying everything they needed for the full 24 hours — from tents and stoves to food, water and personal kit. After setting up camp and enjoying a well‑earned rest, they continued their route the following morning, hiking from Linkenholt to Hungerford.
The expedition is a real test of teamwork, resilience and independent navigation, and Year 9 rose to the challenge brilliantly. Walking over the combe in perfect weather made for a stunning route, but it was their positive attitude and mutual support that truly stood out.
A huge well done to all pupils for completing this important milestone in their D of E journey.
