At A level, students are assessed in the role of player, performer or coach. To focus their skills, they select one sport from a wide range of activities. They develop theoretical knowledge and understanding of the factors that underpin physical activity and sport and use this knowledge to improve performance. Students also learn how physiological and psychological states affect performance. They develop an understanding of the key socio-cultural factors that influence people’s involvement in physical activity and sport, whilst developing their ability to analyse and evaluate to improve their own and others' performance.
