Students engage with Dance in a way that can be extended into higher education. The study of A level Dance provides the opportunity to focus on performance, choreography, technique, health and safety and to engage in critical analysis. Examples of set works of study are Christopher Bruce's Rooster and Gene Kelly in Singin' in the Rain.
The biennial dance show, which takes place at Arlington Arts Theatre, provides a platform for A level students to showcase their work. This exciting and vibrant event is a celebration of dance as an empowering and powerful art form.
There is a wide range of co-curricular events designed to inspire and challenge all students. Girls participate in the Senior School dance company, Angelis, and take part in an enriching programme of weekly contemporary dance classes and performance opportunities. Visiting professional dance companies provides new and challenging dance material for students to learn and these are often linked to our many visits to the theatre to see live dance performances.
Dance is taught in a specialist dance studio with a fully sprung floor and large mirrors.
