St Gabriel’s Pupils Selected to Represent Great Britain at 2025 European Championships

St Gabriel’s School is delighted to announce that two of its current pupils and one former pupil have been selected to represent Great Britain at the upcoming 2025 European Championships in Biathle, Triathle, and Laser Run, taking place in Antalya, Turkey, from 3–10 November.
This exciting news follows a series of outstanding performances at national qualifying events.
At the Biathle European Championships Qualifier, held in Cheltenham on Sunday 27 April, Matilda S (Year 5) dominated the U11 Girls’ race, finishing in first place and becoming the number-one ranked U11 girl in the UK. Her superb run–swim–run performance secured her an automatic spot on the Biathle GB Team.
Harriet S (Year 8), a former St Gabriel’s pupil and older sister to Matilda, also excelled in Cheltenham. Competing in the U15 Girls’ category, she placed third overall after a hard-fought final, earning her a place on the GB Biathle team.
Current Year 8 pupil Liam N demonstrated remarkable versatility across multiple disciplines. Following a strong 7th-place Biathle finish in Cheltenham, Liam travelled to Dorset the following weekend to compete in the Laser Run and Triathle qualifiers, both of which form part of the GB team selection process.
Despite being one of the youngest in his age group, Liam impressed with a determined performance in Saturday’s Laser Run, climbing through the field to finish 7th overall and helping secure a Team Bronze. On Sunday, in the more complex Triathle — involving running, swimming, and multiple rounds of precision shooting — he showed excellent composure to take Individual Bronze and contribute to a Team Gold.
Liam’s all-round performance has now earned him selection to represent Great Britain in all three disciplines: Biathle, Triathle, and Laser Run.
“These are phenomenal accomplishments from our pupils,” said Simon James, Director of Sport at St Gabriel’s. “To see such talent, determination and resilience from our students — both current and former — is incredibly inspiring. We are very proud of the way they represent both themselves and the school on a national and international stage.”
The school looks forward to supporting its athletes as they prepare for the European Championships in November.
