Real-Life Learning in Action: Nursery Car Wash Fun!

While the rest of the school enjoyed a well-earned half-term break, on Monday 27 October, our littlest learners were hard at work!
The Nursery children in the Pre-School and Toddler Rooms rolled up their sleeves, donned their waterproofs, and got stuck into some proper car washing.
Throughout the day, the children took turns cleaning Miriam’s and Katie G’s cars — with the Pre-Schoolers tackling the morning shift and the Toddlers taking over in the afternoon. There was plenty of splashing, teamwork, and laughter as they soaped, scrubbed and rinsed the cars until they gleamed.
The children had an absolute blast. They loved getting to do a “grown-up” job, and some even showed off impressive technique — paying close attention to details like wheel arches, wing mirrors, and windows (as high as little arms could reach!).
Pre-School Room Leader Miriam shared,
“It’s the first time we’ve tried this activity at St Gabriel’s Nursery, and it was such a success! The children loved every minute, and it offered so many learning opportunities — from developing gross motor skills to practising turn-taking, teamwork, and real-life role play.”
It was a brilliant start to the week for our Nursery children — hands-on, full of learning, and lots of fun!
