Izzy Celebrated as Finalist in ‘My Wild Life’ Photography Competition

We are delighted to share that Year 10 pupil, Izzy S, has been named a finalist in the My Wild Life Photography Competition, run by The Base, Greenham Arts Centre.

Izzy’s photograph, Watching the Sunset, is one of just 40 selected from hundreds of entries to go through to the final stage of the competition. In each category, 20 finalists have been put forward for an online public vote, with the winners to be decided once voting closes on Sunday 18 May.

Her striking image captures a quiet and reflective moment:
“My family and I went for an evening walk to watch the sunset, and our dog came with us. When we reached our destination, he sat in front of me looking out into the distance. The way he was positioned—I knew I had to take a photo. I chose this image because the sunset colours matched his collar, and it felt like he was truly admiring the view,” Izzy explained.

All finalist photographs, including Izzy’s, will be exhibited in two public galleries over the coming months. The first display will be at the Honesty Café in Parkway, Newbury from 24 May to 22 June, followed by a second exhibition in The Runway Gallery at The Base, Greenham from 24 June to 20 July.

This is a fantastic achievement and a testament to Izzy’s creativity, observation, and love for the natural world. We wish her the very best of luck in the public vote and look forward to seeing more of her work in the future.

Well done, Izzy!
