A Record Breaking Junior School Sports Day 2026

After being rescheduled twice due to wet weather, it was third time lucky for this year’s Junior School Sports Day, held on Friday 19 June.

Pupils, staff and families were rewarded with cloudless skies, 27‑degree heat and a warm summer breeze — perfect conditions for a morning of competitive fun, team spirit and plenty of cheering from the sidelines (helped along by a very welcome visit from the ice‑cream van).

From Reception to Year 6, pupils took to the front pitch with enthusiasm and determination, showcasing their athleticism across a full programme of events including sprint races, standing long jump, vortex throwing, 400m and relays. The atmosphere was lively and supportive, with families lining the track to encourage every competitor.

A Surprise Race to Remember

A brand‑new event for 2026 brought huge smiles to pupils and parents alike: a special staff sprint race featuring an inflatable dinosaur, shark, egg‑laying chicken, spaceman, bumblebee and capybara. Teachers charged down the track in full costume to roaring laughter and applause — a moment that will be remembered for years to come.

A Day of Community and Celebration

Sports Day is always a highlight of the Junior School calendar, and this year’s sunshine‑soaked event felt especially joyful after the earlier postponements. The pupils’ effort, sportsmanship and team spirit were evident throughout the morning, and we are incredibly proud of every child who took part.

Our thanks go to the staff team for organising such a smooth and uplifting event, and to all the families who supported so enthusiastically from the sidelines.

We look forward to seeing even more records broken in the years ahead.
