Pop Up and Play Brings Imaginative Adventures to Nursery and Reception

On Tuesday 5 May, our Nursery and Reception children enjoyed a wonderful morning of imaginative play as the Pop Up Play Village returned to St Gabriel’s.
The hall was transformed into a vibrant world of role‑play, filled with themed zones that invited children to step into real‑life roles and explore through hands‑on discovery.
From bustling cafés and busy post offices to construction sites, vet surgeries and home corners, each area offered rich opportunities for creativity and collaboration. The children moved confidently between roles — serving customers, caring for animals, building structures and looking after babies — all while chatting, negotiating and inventing their own stories.
The session was filled with excitement as children immersed themselves in the different play spaces, trying out new ideas and revisiting familiar ones with fresh enthusiasm. Their imaginations flourished as they experimented with props, costumes and tools, sharing their ideas with friends and working together in wonderfully natural ways.
Beyond the fun, the morning provided valuable learning experiences. Role‑play of this kind supports early language development, mark making, problem‑solving and social interaction, helping children make sense of the world around them. It was a joy to see them communicating so confidently, taking turns, and expressing themselves through purposeful play.
The Pop Up Play Village, designed by an early years specialist, offers a carefully curated environment that encourages children to explore real‑world scenarios in a safe and engaging way — and once again, it proved to be a huge hit with our youngest learners.
A big thank you to Pop Up Play for another inspiring visit. The morning was filled with imagination, curiosity and joyful learning, and our children loved every moment.
