Remembering Our Former Vice Principal, Cath Sams

It is with great sadness that we share the news that Cath Sams, a much-loved former Vice Principal, has passed away unexpectedly
Cath dedicated her life to St Gabriel's and to the pupils within it. At the heart of everything she did was a simple but powerful belief: that every child mattered. This belief guided her decisions, shaped her leadership, and was felt by every pupil in her care.
Cath was always there—for pupils, for staff, and for parents alike. Whether offering guidance, support, or simply a listening ear, she gave her time generously and without hesitation. Her presence brought reassurance in difficult moments and celebration in joyful ones.
As a leader, she was firm but fair, holding high standards while always leading with kindness and integrity. She inspired those around her to aim higher.
Beyond her professionalism, she brought warmth and personality to our school community. She had a wicked sense of humour that lifted spirits even on the hardest days, and a singing voice that could fill a hall and stay with you long after the final note.
Her impact on St Gabriel's is immeasurable, and her loss will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
We will remember Cath Sams not only for what she accomplished, but for who she was: a dedicated leader, a compassionate teacher, and a truly remarkable person.
Our thoughts are with her family and loved ones at this incredibly difficult time.
