Junior School Christmas Fun Run Brings Festive Cheer to a Blustery Afternoon

Nothing—not even cold winds and grey December skies—could dampen the Christmas spirit at St Gabriel’s on Friday 5 December, as our Junior pupils took part in the much-loved Christmas Fun Run.
Bursts of festive colour filled the school grounds as pupils tackled the cross-country route, weaving around the lake, through the woods, and finally across the back lawns to the cheers of their friends and teachers. First up were Years 3 and 4, followed by Years 5 and 6, with plenty of encouragement echoing around the course as each group spurred the next on.
In true St Gabriel’s style, festive fancy dress was very much encouraged—and enthusiastically embraced! Santa hats, elf ears, glittery bow ties and tinsel-trimmed scarves all made an appearance. Even the Sports Department continued their tradition of joining in the fun, with Mrs Brazendale once again donning her now-iconic bright red lobster suit.
After crossing the finish line, pupils headed to the Sports Hall to warm up with Leon’s legendary hot chocolate, cookies and mince pies, before rounding off the day with lively indoor games.
It was a brilliant, joy-filled afternoon and the perfect way to begin the countdown to the end of term—and to Christmas!
