Open to both current St Gabriel’s pupils and those joining us from other local schools, the day was designed to give children a flavour of the Year 7 experience — from academic lessons to social interaction and all the moments in between.

The morning was packed with team-building challenges run by the Hub Challenge - Wise Up Team Building, giving pupils the chance to problem-solve, collaborate, and connect with peers from a variety of schools. These activities were a brilliant ice-breaker and sparked plenty of laughter and new friendships.

In the afternoon, pupils rotated through taster lessons in music, computing, and geography, where they enjoyed a mixture of hands-on learning and inspiring discussion. Whether composing short melodies, exploring coding basics, or investigating the wonders of the natural world, the sessions offered just the right blend of creativity, curiosity and challenge.

Lunch was served in the marquee — a delicious pizza feast — followed by snack breaks and time to relax, chat, and enjoy the beautiful school grounds. Conversations buzzed with talk of summer plans and hopes for the future, and it was a joy to see pupils engaging so warmly and confidently.

A special thank you goes to our brilliant Sixth Form ambassadors, who accompanied the groups of Year 5 pupils throughout the day. Their friendly welcome, guidance and willingness to share their own Senior School experiences helped create a warm, supportive atmosphere — and they were on hand to answer any questions with maturity and enthusiasm.

A huge thank you to all the staff who made the day possible and to the pupils who brought such fantastic energy and enthusiasm. We loved getting to know you and hope this day helped you feel excited and inspired for the journey ahead.
