Year 2 went wild this week on their exciting school trip to Cotswold Wildlife Park! This term, the children have been learning about different animal groups in Science, so the trip was a fantastic opportunity to put their knowledge into action.
The day began with a warm welcome from a crash of rhinos. The children were amazed to discover how playful rhinos can be and watched excitedly as they charged around their enclosure.
Next, Year 2 made their way to the giraffes. Along the way, a helpful zookeeper shared fascinating facts about the animals. Did you know that a group of giraffes is called a tower? The children were also astonished to learn that a giraffe’s tongue can grow up to 60cm long and is covered in sticky saliva!
Just around the corner, the park’s pride of lions was waiting. Although lions can sleep for many hours each day, Year 2 were incredibly lucky to see them awake. What a mighty and impressive sight!
Finally, the children ventured through the walk-through lemur enclosure, watching these curious creatures roam freely around them.
What a wild and wonderful way to bring Science learning to life!
