St Gabriel’s

A Sun‑Soaked Celebration at The Big Bash 2026

On Saturday 20 June, the St Gabriel’s community came together for one of the highlights of our summer calendar — The Big Bash.

After a spell of unpredictable weather, the sunshine made a welcome return, and families, staff and pupils enjoyed a relaxed, joy‑filled afternoon across our beautiful school grounds.

This much‑anticipated annual event, organised with care and creativity by our wonderful PTA, once again brought together the whole school community for an afternoon of fun, food and entertainment. Guests were welcomed with refreshing drinks before settling in to enjoy a lively programme of activities and performances.

Children were spoilt for choice with a fantastic range of attractions, including Flowmotion circus performers, Little Munchkins face painting, and classic summer‑fête favourites such as the teddy bear tombola, coconut shy, soft play and inflatables. Zorbing, run by Ultimate Activity Camps, quickly became one of the most popular activities of the afternoon.

Younger pupils also enjoyed football sessions led by DMG Sports Academy, who run regular Sunday football for toddlers and young children — a brilliant addition that kept energy levels high and smiles wide.

Instead of last year’s ice creams, families cooled off with snow cones alongside candyfloss, adding a colourful, nostalgic touch to the day. The BBQ team once again delivered a delicious feast, and live music created a relaxed festival atmosphere throughout the afternoon.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to the PTA for organising such a vibrant and well‑run event, and to all our families, staff and pupils for joining us and making The Big Bash 2026 such a memorable success.

We’re already looking forward to next year’s celebration.
