Rotary Young Chef 2019

St Gabriel's young chefs excel at the local heat of the Rotary Young Chef competition.

Charlotte and Selina (Year 9), and Mollie (Year 8) competed in the Rotary Young Chef competition, held at Newbury College, on Saturday 16 November. Each student had to independently plan, prepare and make a three-course meal, for under £20, within a two hour time frame. The girls did an amazing job at getting all three of their courses, which were executed to a high standard, out on time, whilst under the watchful eye of the professional chef judges.

Selina was placed first, the judges were in awe of her exceptional dishes; handmade tortellini filled with  mozzarella and prosciutto, sea bass with pea puree and panna cotta with a spiced caramel sauce. Mollie and Charlotte were both highly commended for their dishes. The girls have been offered work experience in one of the judges restaurants, due to their natural cooking ability.

“ I am really pleased to have won Rotary Chef this year as I have come third, then second in previous years. Now, I have finally reached my goal! I am looking forward to the next round in February! ”

SELINA - YEAR 9

We are very proud of all of their achievements and look forward to seeing  Selina progress into the next stage of the competition, which will be held at St Gabriel's in February 2019.
