St. Gabriel's Pupil Shines at Brighton Triathlon
St. Gabriel's is proud to celebrate the recent success of one of our Year 6 pupils, Elodie, who continues to excel in the world of triathlon.
Competing in the Brighton Triathlon last weekend, Elodie not only won the girls' race but also achieved an impressive 2nd place overall, outperforming all but the top boy in her category.
The triathlon featured a challenging mass beach start, with 34 competitors from both the boys' and girls' divisions racing together. Elodie's open-water swimming skills were vital in helping her navigate the tough sea conditions, and she emerged from the water in 4th place overall and 2nd amongst the girls — despite being kicked in the face during the swim, in true triathlon fashion!
Undeterred, Elodie displayed her strength on the bike leg, quickly taking the lead in the girls' race and entering the second transition (T2) in 2nd place overall. With only one boy ahead of her, she maintained her lead throughout the final run, finishing as the top girl with an impressive 1 minute and 30 second margin. Her outstanding effort ensured that none of the boys behind her could catch up, securing her 2nd place overall in the race.
This was the final event in the South East Regional Triathlon Series, where Elodie continued to demonstrate her remarkable talent and competitive spirit. We are incredibly proud of her achievements and are excited to see what she will accomplish next on her triathlon journey.
Congratulations, Elodie! You are a true inspiration to St. Gabriel's community.
