Junior School Dinosaur Adventure at Wellington Country Park

As part of our Cross Curricular Week with the theme of Dinosaurs, pupils from Reception to Year 4 enjoyed a truly spectacular day out on Thursday 22 May at Wellington Country Park—and even the weather was on our side!

The excitement was palpable from the start as the children boarded a double-decker bus for their adventure. On arrival, year groups split off and rotated through an incredible variety of activities designed to spark curiosity, imagination, and outdoor learning.

Highlights of the day included exploring the dinosaur trail, adventure and nature trails, and discovering the magic of the enchanted forest. The children also enjoyed time on the pirate ship, tractor, water play, and play park, and met friendly animals up close at the petting farm. The miniature train ride and the giant jumping pillow were big hits with all!

After a fun-packed morning, everyone tucked into a picnic lunch before continuing their outdoor explorations. The trip wrapped up back at school by 3.30pm, with happy, tired children full of stories and smiles.

Thank you to all the staff who helped make the day so special—it was a fantastic experience full of discovery, joy, and outdoor learning.
