Festive Family Cookery Brings Seasonal Spirit to St Gabriel’s

On Monday 1 December, the Food Technology kitchen at St Gabriel’s was filled with festive aromas, teamwork and plenty of laughter as our Head of Food Technology, Mrs Edwards, hosted a special Festive Family Cookery session for Senior pupils and their parents.

Eight pupils from across the Senior School each arrived with a sous chef of their own—mum, dad, or another grown-up ready to roll up their sleeves and get stuck in. Together, they spent the afternoon creating two delicious seasonal treats: beautifully buttery sausage rolls (with puff pastry made entirely from scratch!) and an indulgent chocolate torte, perfect for any festive table.

The session provided a wonderful opportunity for parents and pupils to spend meaningful time together, learning new skills side by side and enjoying the fun, relaxed atmosphere of the school kitchen. There was no shortage of smiles as teams folded, whisked, rolled and baked their way to some impressive results.

Mrs Edwards said she was delighted by the enthusiasm and teamwork on display: “It’s always such a joy to see families cooking together. The pupils worked brilliantly, the parents were fantastic sous chefs, and the results were absolutely delicious! It was a lovely way to kick off the festive season.”

A huge well done to all our talented young chefs (and their grown-up helpers!). We look forward to more family cooking sessions in the new year.
