Sixth Form Gain Real-World Insight at Vodafone

On Wednesday 14 January, a group of Year 12 and Year 13 pupils took part in an exciting Mock Apprenticeship Assessment Day at the Vodafone UK Headquarters in Newbury, gaining valuable first-hand experience of the corporate recruitment process.

The visit, which pupils opted into, offered a highly realistic insight into what it is like to apply for and secure a competitive apprenticeship in a global business environment. Throughout the day, students rotated through a range of assessment activities designed to mirror those used by Vodafone when recruiting apprentices.

These included a cognitive task, a one-to-one interview with personalised feedback, and a group presentation challenge, allowing pupils to demonstrate their communication, teamwork and problem-solving skills. The day concluded with a Q&A session, where students were able to ask Vodafone staff and current apprentices about career pathways, training and life within the company.

Apprenticeship applications at Vodafone open on Monday 19 January, and Year 13 pupils can apply alongside their UCAS university applications. Importantly, the apprenticeship recruitment process runs in parallel with university offers, with no final commitment required until A Level Results Day in the summer, giving students flexibility and reassurance as they explore their options.

The experience was thoroughly enjoyed by all who attended and provided an invaluable opportunity to build confidence, sharpen interview skills and gain a clearer understanding of the opportunities available beyond school.

We are grateful to Vodafone for hosting such an informative and inspiring day for our Sixth Form students, supporting them as they prepare for the next stage of their education and careers.
