Declan Takes Bronze at National School Games Finals

Congratulations to Year 8 pupil Declan, who enjoyed an outstanding weekend of competition at the National School Games Finals at Loughborough University, securing a team bronze medal in Modern Pentathlon.

At just 12 years old, Declan was selected to compete in the Under 15 age category, putting him up against athletes as much as three years his senior. Undeterred by the challenge, he produced a series of personal best performances across the three-day competition.

A particular highlight came in the 100m swim, where Declan achieved an impressive personal best of 1:06.28 to finish second. He also performed strongly in the Laser Run, securing seventh place.

The competition also gave Declan his first experience of the Under 15 obstacle course. An unfortunate fall meant he was unable to record a score in this discipline, but despite this setback, he still finished an excellent 11th overall in a field of more than 16 competitors.

Declan's performances also earned him the third-highest boys' score for the Knights Green Team, helping the team secure a bronze medal.

Competing so successfully in an older age category is a fantastic achievement and another exciting milestone for Declan. Congratulations on a brilliant weekend of competition!
