Sicily Trip Day 4 Report

News from day 4 of the Classics and Geography trip to Sicily as reported by Jenny in Y11.

Yesterday, after an early start watching the sunrise on the beach, we took a bus 1380m up Mount Etna and then a car up to 2900m. Despite the freezing temperatures and several complaints about cold ankles, the views were fantastic.  After that, we went to a bee farm for honey tasting and then to Taormina to see the ancient theatre and browse the town centre, stopping for ice cream and to admire the view over the top.

After dinner, we held 'The Great St Gabriels Talent Show' where a variety of talents from classic hymns to Shakespeare monologues were performed. The image below shows Charlotte performing a speech from Henry VI on the moonlit beach.

Visitors to St Gabriel's quickly recognise that this is no ordinary school. Parents are always impressed by the sense of purpose and enthusiasm of the talented, committed staff and the confidence of the extremely happy pupils. We offer girls the opportunity for a seamless journey from Nursery through to Sixth Form, with our boys leaving us at the age of 11 for their senior schools.
