Science

In Year 1 and Year 2, the emphasis in science is to build on children’s natural curiosity and understanding of the world.  Lessons involve a great deal of observation, discussion and investigation.  Practical experiments are carried out and the children are encouraged to discuss their findings with their peers.

From Year 3, pupils learning is based in our Junior Science Laboratory and from Year 4 they are taught by specialist science teachers.  We enthuse our pupils with a love for learning about science.  Increasingly sophisticated use of scientific methods is developed year on year, culminating in a major science project in Year 6.

During the Spring Term, pupils spend Science Week participating in mini science projects and exciting scientific activities.  Throughout the year, guest speakers from the scientific community visit us to inspire and enthuse the pupils.

Visitors to St Gabriel's quickly recognise that this is no ordinary school. Parents are always impressed by the sense of purpose and enthusiasm of the talented, committed staff and the confidence of the extremely happy pupils. We offer girls the opportunity for a seamless journey from Nursery through to Sixth Form, with our boys leaving us at the age of 11 for their senior schools.
