St Gabriel's Strengthen Links With Emzoncane Primary School
Junior girls have been busy this term preparing a box of resources to send to our Link School in South Africa. We were fortunate to be given sets of stationery by Carte Blanche Greetings and decided to send half of these to pupils at the Emzomncane school who have become pen-pals.
We will also be sending them a large grey teddy bear with “St Gabriel’s” on his foot – whilst we keep his “brother” here as a symbol of our link.
Girls in Years Five and Six have written letters to their pen-pals, and have produced some original stories based on the legend of Anansi the Spider from African folklore. The parcel of resources also includes photographs showing what life at St Gabriel’s is like for pupils here.
Our link with Emzoncane was facilitated by the Bhubesi Pride project which is currently travelling south through Africa in a fleet of Land Rovers to visit all partner schools there. Their progress can be followed via the blog at www.rugbyinafrica.org which has some amazing photographs of schools and African life.
