The role of an MP - talk by Richard Benyon

Local MP Richard Benyon visited school to talk to a group of politics students about his job as the Member of Parliament for Newbury.

The session was very interesting and informative; we got the chance to ask Mr Benyon about a range of political topics, notably the 'special' relationship between the US and the UK. We also gained a valuable insight into the life of being a MP, and discovered more about why Mr Benyon chose to join the Conservative Party. It was clear to us how passionate Mr Benyon is about his job as an MP, especially when he was talking about constituency Friday and meeting members of the electorate.

Overall, it was very inspiring to us all, and we hope to meet him again soon.
