St Gabriel’s

Excellent GCSE Results

Following last week's outstanding A level results, and in an uncertain GCSE landscape, St Gabriel’s students have again performed with distinction in their GCSEs with over 33% at A*/9 or 8, 57% of all grades at A*/9-A/7 and 100% of all pupils who sat 5 or more GCSE achieving grades at A*/9 or 8–C/4.

There has been a great deal of uncertainty and speculation regarding the new GCSEs and these impressive results show the hard work and dedication that the pupils and staff have put in to make sure that success has been achieved. The grades awarded show once again the impressive versatility of our pupils and staff: 67% and 56% of all Chemistry and Biology respectively were at level 9/8 which augurs well for the new science facilities that are coming online at the start of the new school year. Of the unreformed subjects DT: Product Design, Italian and Mandarin achieved 100% A*/A!

Principal, Ricki Smith said ‘We are delighted to be celebrating some truly exceptional GCSE results. Every year there is a great deal written about the level of standards, which seems unjustified at a time when we should be paying tribute to the versatility and adaptability of our young people and the teachers that prepare them for their public exams. This cohort has done really well and we look forward to them joining the Sixth Form next month.'
