Harvest Festival Celebration

Our Harvest Festival celebration welcomed the Reverend Joy Mawdesley from St Nicolas' Church, Newbury, who did a fantastic job of leading both Junior and Senior School assemblies, on Monday 5 October with prayers and readings from pupils.

The assemblies, delivered via Teams, saw Junior House Captains and senior pupils Ella, Year 9 and Lucia, Year 10 performed readings and prayers that told how the rainbow is an important symbol of protection.  Joy filled a vase with a harvest rainbow, of colourful fruit and vegetables and told everyone the rainbow is a sign of hope and God's promise to look after our world.

Pupils donated almost 30 crates of food items for West Berkshire Food Bank, supporting families in the local community and we were delighted with the huge number of contributions and very grateful for the support of parents and pupils at this time.

Junior Pupils recorded their own harvest songs:

Harvest - Key Stage 1
Harvest - Key Stage 2

Sixth Form pupils planted bulbs, and they are looking forward to watching them grow through the course of the academic year.

The Harvest Festival today was a great opportunity for our Junior and Senior communities to come together virtually in morning assemblies and it was lovely to have Reverend Joy Mawdesley leading the services.  We would like to thank all of the pupils who read so well and were so involved in the services.  Finally, we could not have collected the amount for our local Food Bank without the very generous contributions from pupils and parents so a huge thank you to you all.
