Y1 Materials, Marsh Fuels and Sticky Magnets!

Year 1 have enjoyed being super scientists this term, learning about materials and their different properties. They are now experts in identifying what something is made from and why that particular material is used. 'Material walks' around school and seeing the same material used in a variety of ways have reinforced their learning. The children also performed their first experiment testing the strengths of different magnets using paper clips and making predictions beforehand. Lots of counting and magnet sticking fun was had! We were also very lucky to have Hermione and Sophia's Daddy visit to tell us about about Marsh Fuels and the important materials they supply to the local area. And Mr Marsh just so happened to bring his tanker along to great excitement from our youngest scientific investigators!

Visitors to St Gabriel's quickly recognise that this is no ordinary school. Parents are always impressed by the sense of purpose and enthusiasm of the talented, committed staff and the confidence of the extremely happy pupils. We offer girls the opportunity for a seamless journey from Nursery through to Sixth Form, with our boys leaving us at the age of 11 for their senior schools.
