Art Textiles to Squeegee & Ink

On Tuesday, 24 January, we visited Squeegee & Ink in Newbury  as part of our textiles GCSE.  We tried out the technique of ‘Screen Printing’ with designs we had previously created on Photoshop during our school lessons.  When we arrived, our designs were already set up so that we could get printing straight away.  Jodie and I both had a two layer design and we experimented printing on to different backgrounds for example, card, coloured fabrics and hand dyed cotton which we had dyed in class. Then we chose for our first layer our colour of paint which was either a complimentary colour or a harmonious colour. Once it had dried we printed over this with black for the second layer.

The whole afternoon was enjoyable and very interesting.  We came away very pleased with our finished products.

Visitors to St Gabriel's quickly recognise that this is no ordinary school. Parents are always impressed by the sense of purpose and enthusiasm of the talented, committed staff and the confidence of the extremely happy pupils. We offer girls the opportunity for a seamless journey from Nursery through to Sixth Form, with our boys leaving us at the age of 11 for their senior schools.
