Pre-Prep ICT
In addition to networked computers in each classroom which have access to a wide range of cross curricular software, Pre-Prep pupils have the use of well equipped and up -to-date ICT suites. The use of interactive whiteboards and computerised floor turtles enliven ICT sessions.
In the Nursery and Reception classes we provide opportunities for the use of ICT to develop skills across the six areas of learning in the Foundation stage Curriculum, for example;
- Art/paint programs to develop early mark making, encourage creativity and reinforce mouse control,
- Maths programs for development of number skills and data handling,
- Televisions, CD roms, videos and DVD's enable children to find out information related to topics,
- Telephones / tape recorders / cash registers etc in the role-play area encourage speaking and listening skills and reinforce uses of ICT in the environment.
We also encourage children to show each other how to use ICT equipment, thus developing their own skills and confidence in this area of the curriculum.
The children in Year 1 and Year 2 follow a programme of activities developing skills such as word processing, data handling, creative art activities, programming a floor turtle and finding information using CD Roms and the internet.
