Seasonal Activities

Sandleford undertakes a wide variety of activities throughout the year, which highlight and supplement the  core curriculum.

Christmas

All Nursery and Reception children are involved in a Christmas play or concert, which is generally performed during the penultimate week of the Autumn Term.  The children also celebrate Christmas with a special lunch and party.

External Visits

Throughout the academic year, various visits and trips are arranged for the children. Transport is either in one of the school mini-buses or provided by a local bus company.  A first aid box and mobile phone are taken on every trip.   Risk assessments are carried out prior to all visits.

Parents are informed of costs and dates of trips in advance, by letter, and they must provide written consent prior to their child participating.

Drop & Stay

Parents are invited once a term to  'Drop & Stay’ with their children.  The aim of the session is for parents to join in and experience their child’s favourite activities in the classroom and outdoor learning environment and share their Learning Journal.  This is followed by the opportunity to catch up with other parents over a coffee in Gabbies.

Sharing Morning

Once a term,  Nursery, Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 open their doors to prospective and current parents so that they can experience a typical morning of lessons.

Sports Day

Towards the end of June, Nursery and Reception have their own Sports Day, which is followed by a Teddy Bears’ Picnic.  This is a fun and informal event for parents to come and enjoy.
