Sandleford Curriculum

Sandleford employs a fully qualified Early Years teacher to guide and plan the curriculum from the Baby Room through to the Reception class (4 - 5 year olds).

In the Baby and Toddler Rooms, each Room Leader has the training and experience to deliver a varied and exciting daily programme with support from other staff.  This includes singing, creative activities and games to encourage counting and speech development.

From the age of 3, when they are able to understand and enjoy more structured routines, children have specialist teachers for languages, music, sport, drama and dance, whilst still having plenty of time to learn through play and express themselves independently.

The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Curriculum is followed all the way through Sandleford.  There are three prime areas and four specific areas of learning which inter-relate and are taught in a linked way.

Prime Areas:

1) Personal, Social & Emotional Development

2) Physical Development

3) Communication & Language

Specific Areas:

1) Mathematics

2) Literacy

3) Understanding the World

4) Expressive Arts & Design

Visitors to St Gabriel's quickly recognise that this is no ordinary school. Parents are always impressed by the sense of purpose and enthusiasm of the talented, committed staff and the confidence of the extremely happy pupils. We offer girls the opportunity for a seamless journey from Nursery through to Sixth Form, with our boys leaving us at the age of 11 for their senior schools.
