Admission to Sandleford is non-selective. On receipt of the registration form, your child will be placed on our lists. Approximately six months prior to your child's entry date, places will be allocated in accordance with our Admissions Policy and, following this, a formal offer of a place will be made. If, however, there is not a place available for the days/session you require, we will contact you to discuss the earliest possible entry date for your child. Once the place has been accepted, your child will be invited to attend a number of settling in sessions in Sandleford prior to joining the school.
Settling in Sandleford
As a nursery, we understand that the transition between home and nursery can be a difficult time for a child as well as for the parents; we will do everything we can to make this adjustment as smooth and easy as possible.
The Sandleford settling in sessions help your child to gradually become used to their key worker and the staff within their room. Sandleford also has a designated transition coordinator, who will support you through the process, offering advice and answering any questions you may have.
The week before your child is due to start at Sandleford your child will be invited to some settling in sessions. We generally offer two to three sessions but this is flexible depending on the individual needs of the child.
Session 1 (2 1/2 hours): For the first half hour the parent stays in Sandleford to complete paperwork, leaving their child in Sandleford for the remainder of the session.
Session 2 (2 hours): The parent leaves their child to be looked after by the Sandleford staff.
